Summer is here, and families across our area have several options to help keep kids fed while school is out. From free summer breakfast and lunch programs to local food pantries and SUN Bucks grocery benefits, there are resources available to help stretch your family's budget.

SUN Bucks: Summer Grocery Benefits for Eligible Families

SUN Bucks (also known as Summer EBT) provides eligible children with $120 in grocery benefits during summer break.

Some children are automatically enrolled, but not all students who receive free meals at school will automatically receive SUN Bucks.

Your child may qualify if they:

• Receive CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal (at or below 185% of the federal poverty level)
• Are experiencing homelessness
• Are in foster care
• Are part of a migrant family
• Have an approved School Meal Application or Universal Benefits Application on file with their school

Families who are unsure whether they qualify should contact their child's school district or visit the California SUN Bucks website at https://cdss.ca.gov/sun-bucks  for additional information.

Residents of the Escalon Unified School District whose household income meets federal guidelines may receive one free bag of food per household each week.
